Packaging class project of redesigning a sport/outdoor item packaging. The Tick Nipper was an existing tick remover with a cardboard and plastic packaging. I sought to add value to the product by hand sewing a case for safekeeping, and creating an informational booklet of instructions for use that the user can keep along with the case.
Packaging class project of creating my own beverage. I created Thé Blanc (French for "white tea"), a line of bottled organic + kosher mint flavored white tea and guava flavored white tea. My intended audience was women ages 19-35 who live in urban settings, indulge on the finer things in life, like weekend trips to Barney's and planning spring around Coachella, but are extremely health conscious and influenced by social media.
Franny and Zooey • book jacket
Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger book jacket redesign. This redesign had to have some elements hand done or modified, with one appealing to new readers and one appealing to those familiar with the book. The white cover is appealing to new readers, creating what I felt was a mid 1990s/early 2000s contemporary vibe, including starkness and aloneness that I thought Franny and even Zooey experienced. The green cover is appealing to familiar readers, creating what I felt was a luscious time period appropriate wallpaper with gold ornamentation, which I thought could be found in the Glass family apartment.
Wisconsin Chihuahua Rescue • branding
Creating a new logo and branding for the non-profit organization of the Wisconsin Chihuahua Rescue. An organization that is near and dear to my heart as my family has adopted two of our dogs from them, I wanted to give them a proper branding for a class project. The WCR wanted a very friendly and cute vibe, but I also wanted maintain a professional look for them as well, as they are dealing with a rather serious business.
Alexey Brodovitch • gallery poster
The University of Minnesota's Goldstein Gallery had my class create a poster and mailing card for the upcoming Alexey Brodovitch exhibition. Brodovitch is best known for his groundbreaking design while Art Director at Harper's Bazaar magazine from 1934-1958. I thought the best way to showcase in one image his career, would be a collage of some of what I thought were his most interesting editorials and photoshoots he directed.
Futura Type Specimen
Advanced Typography class project of creating a type specimen booklet. I chose my favorite font Futura with the theme of a favorite movie of my adolescence, The Royal Tenenbaums.
I sought out to create a vibrant and distinct color palette much like in the movie, while calling back to specific scenes or characters outfits (Margot's fur jacket, Chaz's track suit, and Richie's suicide attempt).
TypeCon Convention Booklet
TypeCon is an annual typography convention presented by the Society of Typographic Aficionados. 2014's event was held in Washington D.C. and named "Capitolized," so I sought to design my booklet with an extremely minimal, nearly nonexistent patriotism feel to avert anything too expected or cheesy. A sleek, professional looking design overall to mirror the city many people feel is very obviously business and politic oriented.
The Women of WWE
THE WOMEN OF THE WWE is a research poster my project for my senior thesis exhibition. I wanted to entertain my audience with a brief visual celebration of these hardworking, vivacious women I have been intrigued by since I was 13 years old, with one of the most unique careers and lifestyles possible. Included is an image of the poster installed in my senior thesis exhibition Unfold at Rapson Hall, University of Minnesota.
March of Dimes
I volunteered for Tammy at the Green Bay, WI March of Dimes. I made flyers and handouts for numerous MoD events such as their largest event, March for Babies, and their Signature Chef's Auction. A few collateral items were made as well, for eBay auctions or smaller events. Through this internship I learned how to design for an audience new to me (small town communities), and how to make designs that were extremely legible, easy to follow, consistent, yet attractive.
